The Afghan film industry is RE-EMERGING from a period of SUPPRESSION. A new generation of energetic film makers have started to produce and direct films which are high quality, compelling, experimental and often produced with limited resources. On the weekend of 24-26 JULY 2015, London will host the AFGHAN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL to celebrate this work. It will be put on with the BFI FILM FESTIVAL FUND, awarding funds from the National Lottery. The Film Festival will take place at the TRICYCLE THEATRE’S CINEMA, a cultural hub of North West London, where there is a large Afghan community. The Festival will contribute to the enrichment of the Afghan community in the UK, as well as providing a platform to showcase the DIVERSITY, QUALITY AND INNOVATION of Afghan cinema. All films will have English subtitles, making this accessible to the wider community who are interested in experiencing Afghan film.
