Karen Pierce CMG has become the new British Ambassador to Afghanistan.
She previously served as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UK Mission to the UN and Other International Organisations from 2012 to March 2015.
New UK Ambassador to Afghanistan Presents Letter of Credence to President Ghani
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani accepted on Tuesday the credentials of Mrs. Karen Pierce, the new ambassador of the United Kingdom to Afghanistan.
The formal ceremony where Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani had also attended was followed by a meeting that focused on issues of enhanced bilateral relations, women’s rights, counter terrorism and a range of other issues of mutual interest.
Welcoming the new ambassador to Kabul, President Ghani thanked UK for all its cooperation with Afghanistan in various areas and wished the ambassador success in her new tenure.
In return, Ambassador Pierce assured the President of her utmost efforts to further expand the bilateral relations between the two countries.
