BAAG is hosting the Afghanistan Gender Conference on Thursday 27th of March at the Millenium Gloucester Hotel, London.
The past 12 years have seen many gender interventions from international and Afghan partners. As the country enters into a new political, military, economic and social phase, it is imperative to learn from past lessons, to understand what has worked and not worked for gender equality in Afghanistan, and plan for more effective gender support in the future.
Attended by Afghan and international experts, the Afghanistan Gender Conference aims to bring together experts to review, discuss and make recommendations of how gender programmes could be more effective in Afghanistan. The Conference is the culmination of a week of meetings and discussions which will provide a space for developing relationships between those working on women’s rights, on protection and in programme delivery in Afghanistan, and those working on these issues in the UK, within the UK government or NGOs. The objective is that having reviewed the work of the last 12 years, recommendations can be made for the next 10. This closing session of the Conference will present the findings and recommendations of the week’s discussions.
